A nationally recognized Seattle hospitality design firm working on a remodel of the Sir Francis Drake (a Kimpton Hotel) in San Francisco, CA came to us with their artwork needs.
The guestroom art for this boutique hotel needed to reflect the hotel’s grand architecture and design, based on the eccentric blend of the city’s vibrant past and dynamic present. The client had a very specific Elizabethan inspired artwork in mind that would communicate the unique, colorful and quirky character of the hotel and be the primary focus of each guestroom.
The artwork had to be printed at a large 50” x 34” size. The challenge was providing custom and specific imagery that could be printed to our client’s size specifications within the parameters of the budget.
Taking creative direction from the design team, we proposed three images already existing in the Grand Image fine art image bank that fit the theme perfectly.
Additionally, we presented concepts for two new images to be added to the series and commissioned one of our talented artists to create original paintings based on the approved concept.
The paintings were digitally captured and printed as giclees at Grand Image. We also partnered with our trusted framer to deliver a finished product to our client.
Relying on our extensive proprietary collection of fine art images, our strong working relationships with artists, and our 30 years experience in art direction, we were able to provide an end-to-end product solution. From image research and sourcing, to custom artwork creation, printing and framing we delivered custom artwork to the exact specification of the client, staying within a tight budget and strict deadlines.
